Use this unique piece of mud cloth as a throw, runner, or for craft projects!
Bògòlanfini, bogolan, or mud cloth is one of the most unique types of handmade textiles. Each piece of cloth is handmade from 100% organic hand-spun cotton thread. A full piece of mud cloth piece is made up of about seven to eight, 5-inch panels. The cloth is then dyed using rich mud and herbs in an extensive process. The final touch comes when artisans paint/bleach patterns onto the cloth. Each pattern has a meaning and each panel of cloth tells a story.
Bogolan originated in Mali, West Africa. Several ethnic groups are associated with the production of mud cloth. The Bambara people are most well known for their bogolan, as their version has become the most popular globally.
